Learn” Initiative

cooking solutions while earning as you learn!
About Us:
Westwind Energy is a social enterprise based in Sierra Leone. We have been manufacturing
and distributing improved energy efficient cookstoves under the Wonder Stoves brand
name since 1990. We are dedicated to making a difference through our “Earn While You
Learn” initiative. Open all year round, this program is designed to equip women and youth
with valuable skills in welding, fabrication, and the installation of improved cookstoves. As
a participant, you not only receive comprehensive training but also have the unique
opportunity to earn while honing your skills. We are looking for suitable candidates to commence a sheet metal apprenticeship in our Wellington factory. Apprentices will be trained in all areas of welding, tin smithery and sheet metal fabrication. This is a great opportunity for candidates to learn from our experienced team with lots of room for future growth.
Responsibilities:
- Attend and actively participate in our 18 months (Length of training to be
confirmed) national accredited TVET hands-on training program. - Learn and apply welding, fabrication, and installation techniques under the
guidance of our experienced professionals. - Contribute to the creation and installation of improved cookstoves.
- Actively engage in the “Earn While You Learn” model, gaining practical experience while earning a stipend.
Qualifications:
- Passion for hands-on skills development, particularly in welding and fabrication.
- Willingness to learn and apply new techniques in a practical setting.
- Strong commitment to contributing to sustainable cooking solutions.
- Availability to participate in the program throughout the course duration.
