Westwind Energy is a social enterprise based in Sierra Leone. We have been manufacturing and distributing improved energy efficient cookstoves under the Wonder Stoves brand name since 1990.
Our company is looking for a highly talented welder to join our team. We’re seeking a hardworking professional who likes meeting challenges and surpassing expectations. Your responsibilities will include interpreting designs, monitoring machinery, fabrication of cookstoves and other items and assessing welded components.
To excel in this role, you should have in-depth knowledge of welding machinery and electrical equipment. The successful candidate will also have a steady hand and outstanding attention to detail.
Responsibilities will include:
- Reading and interpreting engineering Drawings.
- Use of fixtures and jigs to successfully produce work to required specification.
- Measuring and marking out cutting and bending lines.
- Ensuring that all required parts for assembly are present.
- Double-checking design specifications before commencing with work.
- Fabricating and constructing metal components.
- Grinding and finishing completed products.
- Operating tools, machinery and welding equipment.
- Performing quality checks on completed products.
- Conforming with company Health & Safety regulations.
- Completing quality check.
- Assisting day to day running of the factory production areas and jobs allotted to your control inaccordance with schedules and completion dates assigned.
Qualifications
- Relevant qualifications or training in sheet metal fabrication / Welding.
- At least 5 years welding and fabrication experience in a factory environment.
Skills
- Highly skilled in multiple metal fabrication disciplines (Welding, milling, lathe work, folding, cutting etc.)
- The ability to read engineering drawings and use dimensional measuring equipment to measure fabricated parts.
- Ability to work unsupervised.
