Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Technical Head to lead our factory operations. This role involves overseeing the production team, managing CNC plasma and laser cutter operations, applying welding expertise, interpreting technical drawings, and collaborating with external partners on projects. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader with a strong background in metal fabrication, team management, and the ability to build productive relationships with partners.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead and manage the factory team, creating a productive and safety-conscious work environment.
- Coordinate daily tasks, monitor team performance, and provide training and guidance to ensure high standards of workmanship.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team.
Machine Operations:
- Oversee and operate CNC plasma and laser cutting machines, ensuring optimal settings and troubleshooting any issues.
- Provide expertise in machine setup, maintenance, and process improvements for efficient production.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols while operating machinery.
Welding & Fabrication:
- Apply welding skills, primarily stick welding, as required, ensuring all fabrication meets quality and safety standards.
- Supervise metal fabrication processes to produce durable and precise components.
- Implement design changes in collaboration with partners to enhance product development.
Project Collaboration & Partner Liaison:
- Liaise with external partners to coordinate collaborative projects ensuring seamless communication and project alignment.
- Represent the company’s technical capabilities during project planning and implementation.
Technical Design & CAD Proficiency:
- Utilise CAD software to create, modify, and optimize technical drawings and 3D models for production.
- Develop and interpret detailed technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to guide production processes, ensuring all specifications are met.
- Demonstrate proficiency in 3D modelling techniques and familiarity with 3D printing technologies to support product development initiatives.
- Apply knowledge of CNC machining processes, including the ability to generate and interpret G-code for machine operation.
- Ensure that the team understands and adheres to design requirements for each project, facilitating effective communication between engineering and production teams.
Quality & Safety Assurance:
- Implement quality control processes, inspecting finished products for accuracy and reliability.
- Enforce safety protocols by conducting regular audits and training sessions to maintain a safe working environment.
Operational Reporting:
- Maintain production records, reporting on output, efficiency, and any operational issues.
- Collaborate with management on production schedules, inventory needs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
Experience & Technical Skills:
- Minimum 5 years in a factory environment.
- Strong welding and metal fabrication skills; proficiency in interpreting technical drawings is essential.
- Proven leadership experience in managing teams and production workflows.
- Experience in project collaboration with external partners is preferred.
- Technical training or certification in machine operation, welding, or fabrication is required.
Additional Skills:
- Excellent organisational and communication skills; fluency in English at a technical/engineering level is mandatory.
- Ability to resolve technical challenges efficiently under pressure.
- Familiarity with manufacturing safety standards is essential.
- Proficiency in CAD software and 3D printing technology is required.
Working Conditions:
- Physical ability to operate machinery and occasionally lift materials is necessary.
- Compliance with factory safety standards is mandatory.
