Westwind Energy is a social enterprise based in Sierra Leone. We have been manufacturing and distributing improved energy efficient cookstoves under the Wonder Stoves brand name since 1990.
Our company is looking for a highly talented CNC Plasma Operator to join our team. We are seeking a hardworking professional who likes meeting challenges and surpassing expectations. Your responsibilities will include interpreting designs and monitoring machinery for fabrication of cookstoves.
Responsibilities will include:
- Setting up and operating plasma cutting machines according to work order instructions and specifications.
- Adjust machine settings, such as cutting speed and pressure, as necessary to produce parts to the required specifications.
- Read blueprints and work orders to determine specifications, such as materials to be used, locations of cutting lines, and dimensions of the finished product.
- Inspect finished products for quality and accuracy, adjusting as necessary to ensure that all parts meet the required specifications.
- Maintain a safe work environment by following all safety procedures and regulations.
- Perform routine maintenance on machines, such as cleaning and lubricating parts, replacing worn or damaged components, and performing minor repairs as necessary.
- Troubleshoot problems with machines and make repairs or adjustments as necessary to keep machines running smoothly.
- Monitor machine operations and adjust as necessary to ensure that machines are running efficiently and producing high-quality parts.
- Record production data, such as quantities produced, time spent on each job, and any
quality issues that arise.
Qualifications
- Vocational or technical training in machine operation or related field.
- At least 3+ year’s experience operating CNC Plasma machines.
- At least 5 years welding and fabrication experience in a factory environment.
Skills
- Full understanding and ability to read drawings and set sliding head CNC machine.
- Relevant training in sheet metal fabrication/Welding.
- Highly skilled in multiple metal fabrication disciplines (Welding, milling, lathe work, folding, cutting etc.).
- The ability to read engineering drawings and use dimensional measuring equipment to measure fabricated parts.
- Ability to work unsupervised.
- Ability to manage a team.
