Westwind Energy is a social enterprise based in Sierra Leone. We have been manufacturing and distributing improved energy efficient cookstoves under the Wonder Stoves brand name since 1990. This position serves as a support role within the business, focusing on completing various administrative and finance tasks to assist different teams. The responsibilities encompass tasks across different areas, supporting both office and Production/Factory departments.
The candidate will possess the following skills and attributes: excellent organisational skills, prioritise workload and ability to multitask, strong communication skills, enthusiastic with excellent knowledge of finance, a good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Access and great attention to detail.
DUTIES
- To ensure good and clear communication is given to supervisors and team leads.
- To ensure that Health and Safety rules and regulations are adhered to during the work and all matters relating to this are dealt with using the resources within the company in line with the company’s Health and Safety policy.
- To work closely with other supervisors to ensure production handovers are effective and communicated clearly.
- Ensure that material stock levels are maintained always.
- Liaise with other team leads daily to give performance reports and general observations in terms of production.
- To produce weekly performance reports from various production departments.
- Be able to make appropriate decisions while following the company’s organisational structure.
- Management of cash book and monthly reconciliation.
- Managing the payroll system to ensure timely payment of casual workers and permanent staff are made.
- Ensuring financial and other reporting systems are maintained in accordance with required acceptable standards.
- Ensure that the company meets its tax compliance- GST, PAYE, WHT, Corporation Tax and NASSIT.
- Monitor the day-to-day financial operations within the company, such as payroll, invoicing, and other transactions.
- Prepare monthly management account.
- Reconcile receivable account.
- Prepare payment vouchers and cheques.
- Review financial data and prepare monthly and annual reports.
- Present financial reports to board members, stakeholders, executives, and clients in formal meetings.
- Stay up to date with technological advances and accounting software to be used for financial purposes.
- Establish and maintain financial policies and procedures for the company.
- Understand and adhere to financial regulations and legislation.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or similar.
- 3 years of relevant professional experience as a finance administrator or similar
- Practical experience with accounting software spreadsheets (such as MS Excel), and databases (such as MS Access).
- A solid understanding of bookkeeping procedures including crediting and debiting appropriate accounts, posting entries to ledger accounts, and reconciling accounts.
- Able to quickly learn and adapt to new software and processes.
- Experience in supervising people.
- Multi-tasking skills.
- Effective written and verbal communications skills.
